One of my favorite Korea photos of one of my favorite baseball players, Lee Dae-hyeong of the LG Twins, (out)standing in his field.

Seoul Overnight

Kongdae night, originally uploaded by briancolella.

A week ago on Saturday, Graham, Ryley and I headed down to Seoul to meet up with Jonny from Canada and go to the LG Twins game against Hanwha, and then go out in Seoul and stay at Jonny's overnight.

We stopped at Quizno's before heading to the game because we didn't feel like having Burger King, and Graham said the KFC at the stadium was more expensive. Sandwiches in hand, we met up with Jonny, his Korean girlfriend and a Korean guy who went by the name Chris. It started to rain a little bit so we made the choice to sit behind home plate under cover, which made it my third different seating area in as many games, and I think there's maybe only one other place left to sit, but those seats cost more than W6,000.

The Twins lost 8-0 against Hanwha's best starter, who Graham said is the best pitcher in the country, and is the national team's ace. After the game we went to the Kongdae area where Jonny lives and dropped off our stuff before heading out to dinner, where we were joined by another of Jonny's Korean friends, who goes by the name Sasquatch.

LG vs Lotte (Downtown part 2)

Once we arrived at the stadium, we discovered a pretty solid crowd outside and we got in line for tickets. Unlike America, baseball tickets in Korea are actually affordable, so we got the seats you see in the pictures for 6,000W. Also outside the stadium were a bunch of people selling packaged rice cake treats and other stuff, but Graham preferred to get the tickets and get in and sit (first come first served) and then worry about food.

Also unlike America, inside the baseball stadium you aren't getting a $4.00 hot dog and fries for $3.00 and a coke for $3.00. You can just go to KFC or Burger King and get a meal from them for about 6,500W (I got a Whopper with cheese set is why it was so pricey). Also, when you want a beer, instead of buying it from the walking keg you can just go to the convenience mart and get a tall-boy of Hite for 3,000W. Which means that for a total of about 15,000W you can get in the stadium, eat a full BK meal and have a beer. Whereas in America, you probably aren't getting in the stadium for less than $20.
